Prep 10 min · Cook 5 min · Servings not given in the source
Make
Ingredients
- ragi (finger millet) roller flakes — 20 g
- dates, deseeded — 20 g
- milk — 200 ml (boiled and cooled)
- dry fruits (to garnish; no quantity given (in Indian usage this often includes nuts))
Method
- Dry-roast the ragi flakes in a pan, then grind them to a powder in a blender jar.
- Chop the dates small and mash or grind them to a paste.
- Pour the boiled and cooled milk over the flake powder and date paste and blend until smooth.
- Pass the mixture through a strainer.
- Put it in the freezer for about 1 hour, until it turns thick.
- Serve chilled, garnished with dry fruits.
Tips
- General practice: roast the flakes on a low flame only until they smell toasty; thin flakes brown very quickly.
